Combine Harvester – An Innovative Harvester Machine

The different types of crops grown in our fields, such as rice, wheat, barley, rye, and soybean are only partially edible. The seeds at the top of the plant are known as the grain and many edible products like bread and cereal are prepared with these grains to feed the population around the world. After getting the seeds that are edible the dry part of the seeds known as the chaff along with the stalks needs to be discarded as it is inedible.

Before the modern-day harvester machine like a combine harvester was developed, farmers used to harvest crops through a bunch of laborious tasks on the farm. First, they used to cut down the crop with a human-made long-handled cutting tool known as a scythe. Next, they used to separate the inedible chaff from edible grain by beating the stalks with hands known as threshing. Finally, the remaining debris was needed to be cleaned from the seeds to make it suitable for mill use. This was a time-consuming process and also needed huge manpower during harvesting season.

Luckily, a modern combine harvester allows farmers to do quick harvesting as it does the whole job automatically. A framer has to simply drive a combine harvester, through the field of crops and it cuts, threshes, and cleans the grain all by itself using different parts such as rotating blades, wheels, sieves, and elevators. The grain is collected in a container inside the combine harvester which occasionally empties it into the carts pulled by tractors driven alongside. The chaff and stalks are thrown away from a big exit tube and fall back down onto the field.

A combine harvester allows farmers to complete harvesting on time in the season when there is a risk of crop getting damaged due to bad weather. A farmer can avoid these risks and can complete harvesting in minimum time. This modern harvester machine also reduces the dependency on labour in harvesting season.
